Participants must successfully complete the MoV® Foundation Exam prior to attempting the MoV® Practitioner Exam.

The Foundation Course will enable students to:

• Demonstrate a knowledge of MoV principles, approach and environment;
• Explain the processes and techniques of value engineering and value analysis;
• Organise and contribute constructively to a Value Study;
• Assist an MoV Professional to analyse a company, programme or project to identify and weight Value Drivers, and assess organisational value; and
• Be fully prepared to undertake the Foundation exam.

The Practitioner course will enable students to demonstrate their ability to:

• Organise and contribute constructively to a Value Study;
• Demonstrate a knowledge of MoV principles, processes, approach and environment;
• Analyse a company, programme or project to establish its organisational value, including identification and weighting of Value Drivers; and
• Be fully prepared to undertake the Practitioner exam.

The following topics will be covered in the Foundation Course:

• Introduction: what is MoV and why it is needed;
• Value management and its place in organisational Best Practice;
• Principles underpinning value management;
• Processes and Techniques to be applied when using MoV;
• Approach to implementing MoV;
• Environmental factors influencing and impacting value;
• Application of MoV studies in a portfolio, programme and project environment;
• Application of MoV studies in a Business as Usual environment;
• Embedding a value culture in the organisation; and
• Preparation for the Foundation Examination.

The following topics will be covered in the Practitioner course:

• Application of MoV studies in a portfolio, programme and project environment;
• Application of MoV studies in a Business as Usual environment;
• Embedding a culture of MoV in the Examination;
• Processes and Techniques to be applied when using MoV; and
• Preparation for the Practitioner Examination.

The Practitioner course is scenario-based, and focuses on the application of MoV under different programme environments and scenarios. Review and revision sessions of all MoV elements are included throughout the training. Students will work through a range of exercises and case studies in order to broaden and deepen their understanding of value management and prepare for the exam.

MoV is suitable for management and staff in organisations wishing to acquire an understanding of MoV. It is also intended for professionals involved in directing, managing, supporting and delivering portfolios, programmes and projects, including Senior Management, Programme Managers, Project Managers, Change Managers and Project and Programme Office staff and their sponsors. MoV is also valuable for those who apply the methods in other PPM guides to build on and enhance the activities to maximise value and delivery of benefits.

Practitioner:

• Objective testing based on a case study scenario
• 40 marks required to pass (out of 80 available) – 50%
• 2.5 hours duration
• Restricted open book – The MoV Manual may be used in the exam

Students will be provided with:

• Access to an electronic version of the manual;
• Access to electronic versions of sample exam papers (including answers);
• Printed copy of a student workbook; and
• Access to electronic version of presentation slides.

A hardcopy version of the manual can be purchased at an additional cost.
