Education: Successful completion of Year 10 or the equivalent level of study or mature aged entry

Prior Experience : Working in project environments in Australia for at least 6 months.

Equipment: Laptop computer and access to an internet connection to study in class and/or online. Including access to Microsoft office suite of software or equivalent (google / apple).

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply project management skills and knowledge in a wide variety of contexts. The job roles that relate to this qualification may include Project Team Member and Project Administrator.

Individuals in these roles work autonomously, and might be members of a project team, with no direct responsibility for overall project outcomes. Primarily, these roles would support wider project operations. They may use project tools and methodologies selectively to support organisational or business activities

Learners completing this course will:

This program is designed for individuals who are in, or expect to be in, project roles. The job roles that relate to this qualification may include Project Team Member, Team Leader, Program Team Manager, Procurement, Project Controls, etc.

Individuals in these roles have project experience and participate as part of a project team.

As part of any course aligned to the Australian Qualification Framework, there is an assessment component that is designed to assess a learners competence following a period of learning and practice.

The Assessment Methodology used for the Certificate IV in Project Management Practice will be a clustered approach that works with a Case Study that students will follow through the Project Lifecycle submitting assessments along the journey. Assessment methods used include:

• AT 1 Questioning (Knowledge Evidence)
• AT 2 Product-based Methods including plans, reports, work samples, emails and other products. (Performance Evidence)
• AT 3 Direct Observation (Performance Evidence and Foundation Skills)

This program has been designed to provide the skills and knowledge required for Project Team members. The program consists of 9 units of competency.

The purpose of this program is to equip individuals with the range of skills required to participate and support the planning and execution of projects. The program is designed in a lifecycle approach to guide learners through a realistic project environment from business case/scoping through to project closure.

The course delivery is designed to be tailored to existing workers and should be completed within 12 months. The course includes

• 6 days of face-to-face delivered workshops (3 sessions of 2 full-day workshops)
  • Session 1: Project lifecycle and initiation
  • Session 2: Project planning
  • Session 3: Project execution and closure
• Self-study of both the online resources
• Online resources are broken into the knowledge areas (based on the units of competency).
• A class case study that will evolve over the learning journey.  The case study is used to guide the assessments for Assessment Task 2.  The case study will be used in the workshops as well as the self-study and assessment components of the course.  Assessments are to be completed throughout the course duration as the case study evolves.
• The course is practical in nature and encourages students to take learnings from the workshop back to their workplace where they can employ and practice the skills that they have learned in the course.
• Learners have access to trainer support throughout their learning journey.

The enrolment window for this course is 12 months; however, learners will commonly finish the course within 9 months. The time it will take to develop competency in the units that form this qualification is dependent on existing skills and experience.

We expect the following time commitment to be required by our learners to complete the course:

• Attendance at the workshops (6 days)
• Self-study (2 hrs a week for 12 months)
• Assessment preparation and completion (approx. 8hrs per month for 12 months)
• Workplace practice (working in project environments over the duration of the learning – approx. 12hrs per week over 12 months)

Certitude provides pathways for people with prior recognised experience and prior competency.  This may include either Credit Transfer (recognition of prior competency) or RPL recognition of prior learning.  Both are offered to all learners upon enrolment.

The course fee is broken down into the following payment milestones:

• $1,500 payable on enrolment
• 50% of the remaining course fee payable at Session 2
• The final balance payable at Session 3

Are there exams?

No. Assessment is through practical, workplace-based tasks and knowledge questions rather than formal exams.

Is funding or a subsidy available for this course?

Not currently — this course is offered as a direct-cost enrolment rather than through a government-subsidised program. A payment plan is available.

Can I apply for RPL (recognition of prior learning)?

Yes. If you already hold relevant units or have relevant experience, you may be eligible for RPL or credit transfer. Pricing for RPL is on application — contact us for an assessment of your experience.

What’s the difference between the Certificate IV and the Diploma?

The Certificate IV is the foundational qualification, suited to project coordinators and team members. The Diploma of Project Management is for those managing more complex projects or leading a project team. Many people complete the Certificate IV first and pathway into the Diploma with credit transfer.

Is this qualification nationally recognised?

Yes. It’s delivered under the Australian Qualifications Framework by Certitude, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 46433), and is recognised Australia-wide.
