Participants must successfully complete the Change Management Foundation Exam prior to attempting the Change Management Practitioner Exam.

The Foundation Course will enable students to:

• Understand how the process of organisational change or transformation occurs.
• Understand the roles needed to assemble teams most likely to achieve successful organisational change;
• Understand how people react to organisational change and how to help them adapt;
• Able to develop strategies to keep people motivated while an organisation undergoes change;
• Understand the different types of change processes e.g. planned and emergent change;
• Gain knowledge of how to keep stakeholders engaged while an organisation undergoes change; and
• Be fully prepared to undertake the Foundation exam.

The Practitioner Course will enable students to:

• Apply appropriate process frameworks to optimally plan and understand organisational change;
• Gain an appreciation of a range of organisation paradigms with which to understand, support and sustain organisational change processes;
• Properly prepare for an organisational change initiative – such as building an effective change team and offering insights that enhance the team’s performance;
• Prepare people for organisational change;
• Be motivational in ways that are empathetic towards peoples’ roles and personalities;
• Establish a clear framework of roles, skills and activities through which leaders can support and sustain the change process; and
• Be fully prepared to undertake the Practitioner exam.

During the Foundation Course students will learn how to:

• Identify key drivers of an organisation’s culture and recognise different types of change processes;
• Recognise the human side of change and know how to help people deal more effectively with change, maintaining their commitment and bringing them successfully through the change process;
• Explain how individuals are impacted by change, different ways they may respond to change situations and how learning processes help them adapt;
• Offer insights on how organisations work, how the process of organisational change occurs and the typical roles that collaborate to deliver successful change; and
• Outline important aspects of how to build and equip a change team to improve effectiveness.

During the Practitioner course students will learn how to:

• Identify organisational drivers of a change initiative and the links with governance structures;
• Apply an appropriate process framework to help plan and understand organisational change;
• Use a range of organisation paradigms to understand, support and sustain change processes, taking account of the culture of the organisation;
• Establish a clear framework of roles, skills and activities through which leaders from different levels can support and sustain the change process;
• Build a change team;
• Help prepare people for change;
• Support the identification and understanding of stakeholders and help develop approaches to build and maintain engagement;
• Draft the communications plan for a change initiative;
• Recognise signs of resistance to change and propose actions to mitigate it; and
• Propose a range of levers by which a change can be sustained and become embedded in the organisation.

• Multiple choice
• Four sections, total of 60 questions
• 30 marks required to pass (out of 60 available) – 50%
• 60 minutes duration
• Closed-book

Practitioner:

• Objective testing based on a case study scenario
• 4 questions of 20 marks each
• 40 marks required to pass (out of 80 available) – 50%
• 2.5 hours duration
• Restricted open book – The Effective Change Manager’s Handbook may be used in the exam

Students will be provided with:

• Access to an electronic version of the manual;
• Access to electronic versions of sample exam papers (including answers);
• Printed copy of a student workbook; and
• Access to electronic version of presentation slides.

A hardcopy version of the manual can be purchased at an additional cost.

Yes. Take the 3-day Foundation course on its own, or the 4-day combined course for both Foundation and Practitioner.
