The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) plays a critical role in improving digital delivery capability across the Australian Public Service. As government agencies continue to invest in increasingly complex digital and ICT initiatives, the ability to effectively manage benefits, demonstrate value and govern transformational programs has become more important than ever.

To support this objective, the DTA partnered with Certitude Australia to deliver accredited Managing Benefits™ and Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®) training and certification pathways. The engagement focused on developing practical capability in benefits realisation, strategic change delivery and programme governance.

Importantly, the engagement was delivered within a compressed timeframe, requiring close collaboration between the DTA and Certitude to rapidly design, schedule and deliver the required learning outcomes while maintaining accreditation standards.

The Challenge

The Australian Government continues to place increased emphasis on benefits management to ensure digital and ICT investments deliver measurable value and positive outcomes for Australians. Many digital initiatives involve significant complexity, multiple stakeholders and long-term transformation objectives. Consequently, organisations need the capability to effectively identify, manage and realise benefits throughout the investment lifecycle.

The DTA recognised an opportunity to strengthen capability in both benefits management and programme management disciplines. In particular, personnel required practical techniques and internationally recognised frameworks that could support strategic investment decisions, programme governance and benefits realisation activities.

Adding to the challenge, the capability uplift needed to be delivered within a relatively short timeframe to align with organisational priorities and participant availability.

The Solution

Certitude Australia worked closely with DTA stakeholders to design and deliver a tailored capability development solution using globally recognised programme and benefits management frameworks. As an Accredited Training Organisation through PeopleCert and APMG, Certitude delivered both formal instruction and accredited certification pathways.

Managing Benefits™ Training

The Managing Benefits™ program provided participants with proven approaches for identifying, planning, managing and realising benefits from projects, programs and investment initiatives.

Participants explored benefits management principles, benefits mapping, benefits planning, benefits tracking and benefits realisation techniques. As a result, they strengthened their ability to align investments with intended outcomes and organisational objectives.

Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®)

The MSP® framework provides a structured approach to managing transformational change and coordinating complex initiatives.

The training focused on programme governance, stakeholder engagement, risk management, strategic alignment and benefits delivery. Furthermore, participants gained practical insights into how programme management can drive successful organisational outcomes while maintaining a focus on benefits realisation.

Accelerated Capability Delivery

A key aspect of the engagement was Certitude’s ability to work collaboratively with the DTA to achieve a compressed delivery schedule.

Certitude rapidly adapted training arrangements, accommodated evolving requirements and coordinated accredited learning pathways within the required timeframe. Consequently, participants received access to internationally recognised qualifications without compromising quality or learning outcomes.
