Participants must successfully complete the MSP® Foundation Exam prior to attempting the MSP® Practitioner Exam.

By the end of the Foundation course students will:

• Understand MSP’s integrated elements and their relationships, building on delegates’ own experience and knowledge of large-scale change;
• Understand the benefits thread through MSP that ensures that the entire programme is predicated and focussed on realisation of benefits;
• Understand how MSP could be applied in real life situations and undertake practical work in a supportive training environment; and
• Be fully prepared to undertake the Foundation exam.

By the end of the Practitioner course students will:

• Be able to describe and apply all facets of programme management, in accordance with the MSP method;
• Know how to set up and manage complex programmes, tailoring MSP while ensuring effective integration of projects;
• Monitor the objectives of a programme and make the essential adjustments needed to respond to changes in the environment; and
• Be fully prepared to undertake the Practitioner exam.

• Guidance on how to prepare for the Foundation Exam, with lots of practice.

The Practitioner course is a scenario-based training course focusing on the application of MSP under different programme environments and scenarios. Review and revision sessions of all MSP elements are included throughout the training. The Practitioner course prepares participants to take and pass the MSP Practitioner Exam.

Programme managers, business change managers, senior project managers moving into programmes, project management office (PMO) staff, and senior responsible owners (SROs) accountable for change.

Foundation:

• 36 marks required to pass (out of 60 available) – 60%

Practitioner:

• Objective testing based on a case study scenario
• 42 marks required to pass (out of 70 available) – 60%
• 2.5 hours duration
• Restricted open book – The MSP Manual may be used in the exam

Students will be provided with:

• Access to an electronic version of the manual;
• Access to electronic versions of sample exam papers (including answers);
• Printed copy of a student workbook; and
• Access to electronic version of presentation slides.

A hardcopy version of the manual can be purchased at an additional cost.

Is MSP now part of PRINCE2?
Yes. PeopleCert has brought Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®) under the PRINCE2 family as PRINCE2 Programme Management. It’s the same respected programme management certification — the branding has been aligned across the suite.

What’s the difference between Foundation and Practitioner?
Foundation confirms you understand the MSP framework; Practitioner tests that you can apply and tailor it to a programme scenario. The combined course gives you both.

Who should take MSP rather than PRINCE2?
PRINCE2 is for managing individual projects; MSP is for coordinating several related projects into a programme that delivers strategic benefits. Many people hold both.

Is it recognised in Australia?
Yes — MSP is an internationally recognised PeopleCert certification, with CPD recognition from AIPM and PMI.
