Gold Coast Council invests in developing project management skills, in partnership with Certitude Australia, as a core capability for its staff.

City of Gold Coast is the second largest local government in Australia.

Council’s Vision, ‘Inspired by lifestyle. Driven by opportunity’ defines the longer-term aspiration for the Gold Coast. The City’s Vision informs strategic planning for the city, with the aim of protecting the enviable Gold Coast lifestyle and ensuring that future generations are proud to call the Gold Coast home.

The council has recognised project management as a specialised skill and core capability critical for the achievement of their aspirational Vision.

Highlights / Outcomes

• The co-design, development and delivery of a highly engaging and immersive project management skills development program.
• A progressive careers pathway catering for staff at the introductory level through to a highly specialised and advanced skills level.
• Integration of the council’s vision, values and behaviours into the learning solution.
• Pathways to industry certifications, nationally recognised qualifications and professional recognition (e.g. AIPM and PMI) offerings.
• Extremely positive participant response and satisfaction ratings.

Certitude’s Role

Certitude Australia worked closely with the People & Culture Strategy team at Council to design an in-house project management skills pathway for staff at Council. The solution was designed to support participants at all stages of their project management journey.  The course design is highly immersive in nature, with a particular emphasis on adult learning principles underpinned by collaborative activities that simulate workplace scenarios.

An industry pathway was also established providing staff the opportunity to gain formal recognition in project management.

Certitude has also worked closely with the City of Gold Coast Council to assist in the creation of a Project Management competency framework.
